SRT Alliance Announces SRT Open Source Technical Panel, Interoperability Showcase, and 70 Member Companies Exhibiting at IBC2019

Haivision and Microsoft Host SRT Sunday Featuring Panel Discussions and SRT Open Source Showcase

Montreal, Canada – September 9, 2019 –  The SRT Alliance, supporting the SRT Open Source Project, announces a record number of exhibits and activities at IBC2019, including more than 70 SRT Alliance members exhibiting, three panel sessions, and an SRT interoperability showcase. 

SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is an open source protocol, originally developed by Haivision, which allows broadcasters and streamers to deliver high-quality, low latency streams across the public internet. SRT has clearly become the de facto low latency video streaming standard in the broadcast and streaming industries.

“What’s amazing about SRT is that it’s is pure open source, totally free, with rapid widespread adoption,” said Sylvio Jelovcich, Vice President Alliances at Haivision. “SRT is extensively used for video, audio and data streams, for live connections and file transfer, within all sorts of software, hardware, and cloud solutions. Beyond SRT Alliance members, SRT is being leveraged by many individuals and organizations in a whole host of innovative ways – more than we’re even aware of. Simply put, SRT is everywhere.”

SRT Alliance founder Haivision encourages and fosters the adoption of SRT with a team of dedicated developers and system engineers. Haivision freely engages the community on Github and a dedicated Slack channel that is open to all SRT Alliance members.
