Omnistream Joins SRT Alliance for High Quality, Low Latency Video Streaming Over the Internet
Omnistream, provider of high-quality, live video broadcasting from anywhere using smartphones, off-the-shelf hardware, SRT and the cloud, today announced that they have joined the SRT Alliance, the open-source initiative dedicated to overcoming the challenges of low-latency video streaming.
Omnistream is joining the SRT Alliance as part of the company’s overall strategy to take the outdoor live streaming experience to the highest level of quality by leveraging the power of smartphones and off-the-shelf 4G bonding hardware. Since the Omnistream cellular bonded stream is sent to the studio as an SRT stream with overall 2 seconds of latency, remote production is now a feasible option. Furthermore, the combination of cellular bonding and SRT to a remote studio overcomes the challenges of professional field production – such as carrying expensive equipment and investing resources in setup and proper internet connection – without compromising on video quality.
“Having just successfully completed the first SRT streaming via bonded cellular broadcast, we are proud to be joining the SRT Alliance,” states Hagay Avraham, CEO of Omnistream. “We look forward to advancing the SRT standard and firmly believe that it will support and enable our client-base of videographers and production houses to improve their live coverage experience, save precious time and resources, and provide more engaging live video content, particularly since SRT enables editing and overlays in their natural environment.”
