GatesAir Addresses Broadcast and IT Convergence with New Intraplex Audio over IP Transport Platform at IBC2018
New software-defined, AES67- and Dante-compatible platform is the broadcast industry’s first to support multiple Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streams for Audio over IP contribution and distribution
Cincinnati, OH, August 23, 2018 – GatesAir, a global leader in wireless, over-the-air content delivery solutions for radio and TV broadcasters, will unveil a new Intraplex Audio over IP transport technology demonstration at IBC2018 that directly addresses the convergence of broadcast operations with IT infrastructure. The software-defined innovation will be GatesAir’s first Intraplex system to live on a COTS x86 server, providing broadcasters with a highly scalable, redundant and cloud-based transport platform for multichannel contribution and distribution. GatesAir will demonstrate the solution at Stand 8.D60 from September 14-18 at the RAI Amsterdam, with shipping to follow in 2019.
The integration of multichannel Audio over IP transport into a facility’s IT infrastructure offers several tangible benefits for broadcasters and network operators. The platform first streamlines installation and management by removing the need for many separate codecs and auxiliary hardware components, freeing multiple equipment racks in enterprise-level facilities. Furthermore, the highly scalable solution, which is compatible with AES67 and Dante on the studio side, will allow users to manage many Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streams on a centralized cloud platform – an industry-first in Audio over IP networking for broadcasters. SRT is a low-latency open source media streaming protocol which provides packet encryption and re-transmission capabilities for reliability and security.
