Arbor Media Implements SRT for High Quality, Low Latency Video Streaming Over the Internet

Doetinchem, The Netherlands – 24-05-2018. Arbor Media today announced that they are actively implementing the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) technology into the following products: LogDepot, Cmeets and ConnectedViews. The company’s main focus for SRT is the connection between customer premises (running LogDepot and Cmeets) and Arbor Media’s web publication platform ConnectedViews. SRT will also be a part of the generic content transport mechanism between data centers.

Arbor Media joined the SRT Alliance in November 2017 to endorse the open-source initiative dedicated to overcoming the challenges of low-latency video streaming. Today, they are implementing SRT as part of their solution offering in the goal of improving live video streaming experiences for their customers, which include parliaments, court rooms, broadcast stations and other professional organizations throughout Europe.

The SRT Alliance was founded by Haivision and Wowza in April 2017 and already has more than 120 members and more than 40 SRT Ready solutions on the market. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency live streaming by supporting the collaborative development of SRT through the SRT Project, the fastest growing open source streaming project. SRT is a free open source video transport protocol and technology stack that enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.

“We support the SRT Alliance in its effort to develop and maintain an interoperable standard for video transport over the public internet. We recognize the need for this technology in our industry and we are now contributing to the SRT Project by adopting the technology and expanding the SRT ecosystem in the marketplace”, said Ron Smits, CEO at Arbor Media.“As the SRT initiative gains more momentum every day, we expect it to become the de-facto standard for exchanging AV content over non dedicated and unreliable connections.”

“With companies like Arbor Media integrating SRT within their solutions, they are contributing to an expanding ecosystem and an industry movement that improves the way the world streams video,” said Sylvio Jelovcich, Vice President of Global Alliances, Haivision. “We’re pleased to see the SRT protocol being actively implemented by some of the world’s biggest broadcast and enterprise streaming workflows as its adoption continues to grow.”
