SRT is an open-source protocol that delivers secure, reliable, low-latency video transport over unpredictable networks. The SRT Alliance unites industry leaders to advance, standardize, and accelerate adoption of this technology worldwide.
The SRT Alliance was founded by Haivision. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency video streaming, thereby changing the way the world streams. Fundamental to this mission is the support of a freely available open-source video transport protocol and technology stack called SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) that will accelerate innovation through collaborative development. It is called the SRT Open Source Project.
The SRT Alliance will promote the industry-wide recognition and adoption of SRT as a common standard for all low-latency internet streaming. The SRT Alliance is open to new members. For companies who want to participate actively in growing the ecosystem of SRT or simply join the alliance to endorse SRT technology, please complete the SRT Alliance membership application here.
The SRT open source protocol is a video transport solution designed to deliver high-quality, low-latency video securely over the public Internet. It ensures reliable streaming even across unpredictable networks by compensating for packet loss, jitter, and fluctuating bandwidth—preserving video integrity and performance.
With end-to-end security, adaptive network optimization, and dynamic endpoint adjustments, the SRT open source protocol maintains the best possible video experience on any network.
Developed and open-sourced by Haivision, SRT is available under the MPL license on GitHub. As a Haivision trademark, it may be used according to the SRT Alliance Membership Guide. While technical references to SRT are unrestricted, only SRT Alliance Members can use the SRT and SRT Alliance logos.
SRT Ready status (and logo use) is reserved exclusively for SRT Alliance members who have integrated open source SRT from GitHub into their solution. Members can leverage SRT branding in association with their SRT Ready products by using the SRT Ready logo once SRT is made generally available in their shipping solution. As SRT Ready is a self-certification, members are responsible for documenting each solution and their integration and interoperability with SRT.
SRT Plugged status (and logo use) is reserved exclusively for SRT Alliance members who have validated interoperability of their products with third party SRT Ready devices and solutions within an SRT Alliance sponsored SRT InterOp Plugfest event.
Haivision’s excellence and engineering creativity behind SRT was recognized with an Emmy® Award for Technology and Engineering. The NATAS Technology & Engineering Achievement Committee awarded Haivision for “Pioneering Reliable Transmission Method for Live Contribution and Distribution TV Links.”
